IIO is a kernel subsystem for analog to digital, digital to analog converters and related hardware. Devices in this category are:
ADC and DAC
CDC – Capacitance to Digital Converters
Color, Light and Proximity Sensors
DDS – Direct Digital Synthesis
PLL – Phase Locked Loops
VGA/PGA – Variable/Programmable Gain Amplifiers
IIO kernel subsystem has ben developed since 2009 by Jonathan Cameron. Devices supported or under development in new kernel are listed here: Device List
IIO Subsystem Overview
IIO is organized as two levels:
- device is the top level of the hierarchy and it represents the acquisition chip.
- channel is part of device; it represents a single acquisition source of the device.
