Townsend reached the title match for the second time. At the 2022 US Open, her partner was Caty McNally. The Americans lost to Czechs Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova.

Wang, 21, has had a lifetime of success in professional tennis. She had never played in a Grand Slam final before. The experienced Hsieh won her fifth triumph in a competition of this scale, the second in Paris (2014 with Shuai Peng).
