Group F: Canada – Morocco 1:2

FOOTBALL\\\ For the first time since 1986, Morocco has qualified for the round of 16 of the World Cup. On Thursday, Qatar’s performance in the Round of 16 of the World Cup sealed victory over Canada.

* Canada – Morocco 1:2 (1:2)
0-1 – Hakim Ziyech (4), 0-2 – Youssef En-Nesyri (23), 1-2 – Nayef Aguerd (40-self)

A draw was enough for the African team to qualify, but they did not focus on defense. From the fourth minute, Hakim Ziyech took advantage of a fatal mistake by the Canadian defense. The Chelsea player shot wide past the goalkeeper, who had to run wide after an error by one of the defenders.

In the 23rd minute Youssef En-Nesyri made it 2-0 and Morocco had everything under control.

There’s no denying the Canadians’ ambition because even though they had no chance of promotion, they fought with ambition to change the outcome. In the 40th minute, they made contact thanks to Nayef Aguerd’s own goal.

In the second half, Atiba Hutchinson was close to equalizing, after which the ball bounced off the crossbar, the goal line and went out on the field.

Canada participated in the World Cup for the second time in its history. In 1986 she lost all three matches and didn’t even score a goal. Now she has made minimal progress. They also suffered three defeats, but scored two goals.

Morocco finished first in Group F, followed by Croatia, who drew 0-0 with Belgium. Thus, the third team of the previous World Cup had gone overboard.

In the round of 16, Morocco will play the second team, while Croatia will play the winner of Group E, where Spain (4 points) are currently leading ahead of Japan (3 points), Costa Rica (3 points) and Germany (1 point). The last matches will start at 8:00 p.m. Spain will face Japan and Germany will face Costa Rica. (PORRIDGE)
