There is widespread fatigue with Trudeau in Canada. In opinion polls, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his party are in trouble. A signature campaign was launched to demand his resignation.

The most signed in history?

The petition is gaining momentum, only at the time of writing just over 2,000 signatures have been received, bringing the total to 225,000. Only 60,000 signatures remain to become the petition the most signed in Canada; the record is 286,719 signatures.

Requires new elections

It’s the Conservative MP Michelle Ferreri which is behind the petition urging the House of Commons to vote on a motion of no confidence which, if passed, would trigger a new federal election within 45 days.

• We, citizens of Canada, have lost confidence in Justin Trudeau and the coalition between the Liberals and the NDP;
• We urge Parliament to pass a motion of censure;
• We demand new elections 45 days after the vote in case of victory;
• The current government is not acting in the best interests of all Canadians.
• This government’s policies do not address the crises facing Canada: housing costs, civil rights violations, the highest inflation in history, unbalanced immigration policies, taxation that leads to poverty, weakening of our economy through the importation of natural resources that Canada already possesses and underuses;
• After eight years of five ethics investigations and after Canada’s reputation has been weakened to the point where Canada is excluded from reporting on important geopolitical events globally, Canadians no longer have confidence in this Prime Minister.
• We, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, urge the House of Commons to table a motion of no confidence and hold a federal election 45 days after the vote, writes Michelle Ferreri in the petition.
