The 67th induction ceremony of the Order of Sport of Canada took place Thursday morning at the Canadian Museum of History. A way to recognize the athletes who have marked the country’s history. Several big names in the sport were inducted.

A total of 10 athletes were inducted Thursday morning into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame and received the Order of Sport of Canada, the country’s highest honor.

Among the best-known names is Georges Saint-Pierre. The latter made his mark in the history of mixed martial arts by playing for the UFC. There are also skaters Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, who represented Canada for several years and won several gold medals along the way.

We see other athletes representing all sports and eras, from curling to softball to wheelchair basketball.

I was very happy to be part of that club. For me, it is an honor to be among these great athletes who changed history. Then, I am also happy that mixed martial art has been recognized as a legitimate sport.

In total, 700 athletes have been admitted to this pantheon in recent years.
