The long-awaited return of Kajsa Vickhoff Lie
The Norwegian Kajsa Vickhoff Lie was very fast during the women’s super-G in Val-d’Isère on Sunday.
She took a strong second place with a time of 1:22.02. Italian Federica Brignone won with a time of 1:21:58.
– Fantastic driving! What a lift. We heard rumors that she was fast in training. Now I have chills,” someone shouted from the Viaplay commentary booth.
The 25-year-old himself was very happy with his second place.
– It was incredible. This season started off a little tired here, so it was good to come up with a plan today and really put it into action. Trust yourself and your instincts and really go for it, it’s so nice to get it over with before Christmas, Vickhoff Lie tells NRK.
– It went well in training so I knew I had it in me. It was just hard to get every last little thing out on race day.
This position is clearly the best of the season for the 25-year-old. She hasn’t made the top ten so far this season. Now it’s back home for Christmas before the racing season continues into the New Year:
– He’s going to go home to the family and eat some ribs. Fat is speed, as they say. And then rest a little. It’s important to rest now and take advantage of the opportunity, because there’s a lot going on after Christmas, says Lie.
Ragnhild Mowinckel didn’t hit as well and found herself quite far behind the lead early on. She finished in 12th place.
The next sprint race for women will take place from the 12th to the 14th at the Austrian Zauchensee. January, with both super-G and downhill. (NRK/NTB)
