New blow for ten Hags United
There will be no happy New Year celebrations for Manchester United, who must hope for a better 2024 than the current year.
On Saturday evening, the big club suffered another defeat in the Premier League, this time against Nottingham Forest.
– It’s disappointing. We’re not playing with enough energy, we’re not committed enough, says United manager Erik ten Hag.
Nicolas Dominguez gave the hosts the lead in the second half, but shaky defensive play gave United the chance to equalize. Alejandro Garnacho took advantage of a bad pass in the Forest defense and played in Marcus Rashford who scored 1-1.
But just five minutes later, Forest regained the lead. Morgan Gibbs-White set his sights and sent the ball past Andre Onana at full length eight minutes before full time.
Four days ago United came from behind to win 3-2 against Aston Villa in inspiring fashion, but Saturday was a return to old, bad habits.
The guests turned away Rasmus Højlund, who was ill. During the match, the reviled Antony was substituted due to injury.
United ring in the new year in 7th place, nine points off a Champions League place. Forest climb to 15th place, five points clear of relegation.
