Canadian director Jean-Marc Vallée, behind major films and series such as “Dallas Buyers Club”, “Wild”, “Big Little Lies” and “Sharp Objects”, has died. The director was only 58 years old.
according New York Times The Canadian director was found dead in his cabin outside Quebec on Christmas Day. The cause of death has not yet been announced.
The director’s publicist, Bumble Ward, confirms the death for The New York Times and describes the death as unexpected.
Vallée’s producing partner, Nathan Ross, was one of the first to comment on the death and describes the director as a generous and loving man.
– Jean-Marc was synonymous with creativity and authenticity. He was a true artist and a generous and loving man. He will be greatly missed, but it is good to know that his excellent style and efficient work will endure, Nathan Ross said in a statement, according to Variety.
Jean-Marc Vallée made his breakthrough with the comedy-drama “CRAZY” in 2005. In 2014, he was nominated for an Oscar in the category of best director for the hit film “Dallas Buyers Club”. Starring Matthew McConaughey and supporting actor Jared Leto each received an award for their roles.
Vallée directed the first season of “Big little lies”, starring Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman and Alexander Skarsgård. For this, he received an Emmy.
