In this year’s edition of the Nations League, some teams will fight for Olympic qualification, the Poles already have tickets to the Olympics.

Despite qualifying for the Olympic tournament, coach Nikola Grbic he stressed before the start of the LN that his goal was to win the event, as it would give his players the self-confidence needed for the Olympics.

First, the Whites and the Reds faced the USA

The White and Red’s first rival was the United States national team, which came to the tournament in Turkey with an experimental team and without coach John Speraw.

The Poles fulfilled their role as favorites, they confidently won in three sets, and the third set brought the most emotions, crowned with a rivalry with advantages (22:25, 15:25, 24:26 ) and now they will face Canada.

This will be a much more difficult task because Canada had the stronger team. The Maple Leaf team is led by Tuomas Sammelvuo – former coach of ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle and future Asseco Resovia. In the first match of the 2024 Nations League, the Canadians defeated the Turkish team 3-1.

When is the Poland-Canada match?

The Poland-Canada match is scheduled for Thursday, May 23. The match starts at 16.

The format is the same as last year

The Polish national team played two friendly matches as part of preparations for the first LN tournament. They lost 1:3 to Germany, but beat Ukraine 4:0.

The format of the competition remains the same as last year: each team will play three tournaments, with four matches each. The top eight teams from the regular phase, including Poland, hosts for the second year in a row, will participate in the final phase, which will take place in Łódź (June 27-30).

After the competition in Türkiye, the Poles will play in Fukuoka, Japan and Ljubljana.
