It is difficult to name the favourites for this match, because after the intercontinental phase, the two teams were side by side in the standings. The Japanese, led by Philippe Blaine, took fourth place after winning nine of 12 games and collecting 25 points. Just behind them with 23 points were the Canadians, who won eight games with the shield.

The two teams have already faced each other in this edition of the Nations League. In mid-June, the volleyball players from the “Maple Leaf Country” had the upper hand, but the match only ended after a tie-break. Will the Japanese resist their rivals and reach the semi-finals?
The final phase of the Nations League will begin on Thursday and last until Sunday. The quarterfinals are scheduled for the first two days, the semifinals on Saturday and the medal matches on Sunday.
