Henning Fladberg, initiator and co-organizer, is very satisfied with the week. He says that everything went as he had hoped and planned and that he therefore has nothing to complain about the event.
– I am very happy. The karaoke in the park was perhaps not as big as I had hoped, but there was life every night and I think Elvepuben is satisfied, says Fladberg.
He further hopes that the Norwegian participants will find themselves in a better position at home.

– It’s the referees’ fault, he laughs, and continues:
– But I found the judges myself, so I can’t complain.
No Norwegian in the lead
Norway’s best position was a narrow 11th place, with just one point outside the top ten. This position was entrusted to LJ Amorsolo.
– It would of course have been fun to have a Norwegian in the top ten, but we still have to say that we are happy with it, says Fladberg.
Nesbuene Aron Pedersen and Phillip Alexander Saksgård Fladberg did not finish in the top 20 this time, but that is not something you would expect when it is their first World Championship, according to the organiser.
– After all, this is the first time that both have participated in the World Championships live. The very few people who sign up for the first time do very well. The one who won this year first participated in 2014, so it’s just about absorbing knowledge and learning and trying again later, Fladberg says.

Lots of life on the streets
Everywhere in the streets and pubs around Årnes there was always life. Fladberg estimates that between 100 and 200 people were out at any given time and created a good atmosphere. Participants and spectators gathered together and had a lot of fun these days.
While the karaoke life was going on in Årnes, the participants were living in Sanngrund, and it is no coincidence that this is where they ended up.

– The participants were very satisfied with the Sanngrund and, in that sense, it was the best World Championship ever. We received feedback that we felt like a small community, because everyone was next door throughout the week. In the past, participants often stayed in different or similar hotels, and the feeling was then not quite the same, says Fladberg.
Good feedback poured in
Fladberg felt great joy among everyone and received a lot of good feedback about the event.
– I’ve never received so many presents before without it being a birthday or Christmas, he laughs.
– Everyone seemed very happy and I didn’t hear anything negative from anyone, he adds.

For Aron, it was between ending his life and revealing his homosexuality.
He also adds that they were very lucky with the weather this week and that he understands that people might have preferred the beach rather than a dark cultural center. He is nevertheless very satisfied with the participation, especially from all the professionals behind the scenes.
Fladberg can now imagine a five-year break, but he does not rule out that the World Karaoke Championship will then return to Nes.
