– When we received the text message from one of her friends that she had been found alive, life changed from endless sorrow to endless joy. It’s like receiving a wonderful gift, Father Knut P. Abrahamsen tells NRK from his home in Son.
He was allowed to speak with his daughter after she was found and treated by Canadian search teams on Saturday evening.
Gone for three days
Julie Abrahamsen had travelled to Vancouver and Whistler Blackomb to snowboard and meet like-minded people.
She was missed by her new friends after she chose to go off-piste. The ski pass she used Wednesday morning was the only trace they had of her.
After three days, she was found by rescue teams.
– She said that the people she was following suddenly disappeared from her and she never found them again. She was hungry, wet and cold, but otherwise in good shape, says Knut Abrahamsen.
Discharged from hospital
The girl was released from the hospital and slept last night in the bed where she lives in Vancouver. Today she was returning to the hospital for some tests.
– She promised to call me back then, said the father.
He is pleased with the efforts of the Canadian search teams and the information he has received along the way.
He is now happy that his daughter has been found alive and well. He does not know if she chooses to return home directly or if she continues her stay in Canada.
