On Friday, the Skalallv Fish Association went to Skalallva to plan new measures for the seal season in next year and examine specific plans for tests and the implementation of Ki technology in the river. Representatives of Huawei Norway, Berlevåg Hunters and Fishermen were representatives of Huawei Norway, Berlevåg Hunters and Fishermen’s Association, Troll Systems and the technology supplier.
These players have already used artificial intelligence (KI) to sort the humpback salmon of wild salmon in the Kongsfjord and Storelva river in Berlevåg.
Technology has proven to be safe with 100%. In 2023, the 5762 bump salmon was removed from the Kongsfjord river using the Ki system.
-It is very motivating when people like this come, contribute and share their experiences with Ki and River Management, explains Lars-Martin Randin, head of the Skalallv Fish Association.
Skalallv Fiskeforeing now hopes to be able to introduce Ki solutions into their own river to facilitate work and protect wild salmon. In 2023, more than 10,000 bump salmon were removed from skalallva using a manual trap, a process that required hundreds of hours of violent volunteers.
– We hope that Ki will be able to save a lot of work for volunteers and at the same time ensure that the wildest salmon leaves in the river, explains Randin.
