Session 12 was one of the most one-sided of this championship. The Swiss curlers won a big victory, beating the Danes 7:0. The representatives of the Scandinavian country were unable to establish an equal fight with their rival, nor win even a single round . The match ended very quickly, with Denmark retiring after six ends. The Koreans also won. It is true that their Italian rivals scored the first point of the match, but in the next three ends the Asian representatives collected 6 “points” and kept this advantage until the end of the match, winning the final 10:5 We were able to witness an equally one-sided duel in the clash between the United States and the Netherlands. The Europeans only started the fight in the first five rounds, but after the break only the Americans scored, winning 8-3. The most equal match of this session was the duel between the hosts and Sweden. The match was led point by point and the scoreboard showed the score 5:5 before the final end. The Swedes played the deciding game better, winning with two rocks. The 5:7 loss was Canada’s first defeat at this tournament.

In Wednesday’s second session, we saw very even matches. In the duel between Germany and Italy, the former won the inaugural round by two points, to which the latter also responded with two in the next round. The Germans scored two points in the third end, the Italians responded with two in the fourth end. The 6th and 8th ends were decisive for the success of the athletes from the Apennine Peninsula, in which they scored three points and won the entire match 11: 8. The Swiss started their meeting with the United States well , leading the halfway 3-2, but the last three ends belonged exclusively to the Americans, who overcame the loss and won 7-4. The fate of the match Norway – Finland was not in the end. After nine innings the teams were tied 4:4 and the final round decided the victory. There the Norwegians proved to be slightly better, winning by one point and 5:4 in the whole match. The most one-sided meeting of this session was the clash between the Scots and the Czechs. The islanders gave our southern neighbors no chance by beating them 6-0.

In the last session of the fifth day of the championship, South Korea took their second victory. Despite losing the first two rounds, the representatives of Asia overcame the loss to the Swedes and beat them 7: 5. Angered by the “zero” loss to the Scots, the Czechs raised the bar for the team Dutch national. They started by scoring three points in the first end, and in the fifth end they won by 6 points. The match lasted eight rounds and ended with the victory of our neighbors 11:5. Canada also returned to the winning tracks. The North American team controlled the encounter with Finland and won 8:3. The Scandinavians abandoned the game before the last round, knowing that they would not make up for the loss of 5 points. Curling fans who watched the match between Denmark and Germany were pleased with the feeling that money was well spent on the tickets. The match was very close, both teams scored well and after the end of the basic playing time the score was 7:7. It took extra time to decide the match. In the extra round, Germany proved to be much better, winning it with three stones and the entire encounter 10:7.
