The man is charged with attempted murder, police wrote in a statement.
Police received a report of the shooting, which happened in the Tøyen Torg area, at 9.15pm on Saturday evening. A young man was shot in the chest.
The injuries were first described as very serious, but on Sunday it became clear the man was out of danger. The man is still receiving medical treatment, Grete Lien Metlid, head of investigations and intelligence at the Oslo Police District, told NTB.
– Things are progressing with him, but as I said, he was very seriously injured. He was lucky due to his injury, says Metlid.
The man in his twenties was arrested on Wednesday evening in the Oslo area. He is already known to the police. The victim in the case is also known to the police in the past and is part of a young community in the neighborhood.
– The victim is known to the police and is part of a community in Greenland and Tøyen. It’s unclear if there’s a connection to this environment, but it doesn’t appear to be a random attack, Metlid told NTB the day after the shooting.
She said Wednesday evening that police believe there is a relationship between the accused and the victim. None of them have yet been questioned by the police.
“We’re making another attempt to carry out interrogations tomorrow,” Metlid said.
The plan is for the accused to be presented for imprisonment on Thursday. He had lawyer Henrik Boehlke named as his defender.
