The final WC selection is clear: – Emil took it well
When the men’s handball world championship team was presented on December 12, there was still a decision to be made.
There was only room for two of the three goalkeepers, Torbjørn Bergerud, Kristian Sæverås and Emil Kheri Imsgard, in the official squad.
Today the decision fell on who should be included.
National team manager Jonas Wille confirms to NRK that Imsgard will not be included in the first round.
– I would first like to specify that the 20 of the workforce will join the championship, even if only 18 can be registered in the official workforce, specifies the national coach.
– We need everyone and he will participate in training and you can make five changes during the championship, so opportunities can arise, he continues.
He says the choice came after a thorough investigation with goalkeeping coach Steinar Ege.
– It was a difficult dilemma, but we are also happy about it. Things are going well at the goalkeeping position in Norway. It was impossible to leave Sæverås out of the squad due to good performances in the Bundesliga, says Wille.
– Emil took it well and professionally. Everyone was determined to solve the two roles in the best possible way, he concludes.
