The discovery caused a sensation

Scientists have made a startling discovery in Canada’s Dinosaur Provincial Park, which is on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

In one of the many slopes of the park, a group of researchers discovered a very rare dinosaur mummy.

– It is one of the best preserved dinosaur fossils of all time. It’s a very exciting discovery, one of the researchers, Brian Pickles, told The Independent.

– Unique

It is the tail and one of the hind legs of a hadrosaur, also called a beaked dinosaur, which should have been found. Moreover, there is a high probability that the remains of the dinosaur are preserved underground, writes the newspaper.

– Hadrosaur fossils are not unusual in this part of the world, but what makes the find so unique is that large parts of the dinosaur’s skeleton are covered in skin, the researchers explain in a statement.

They add :

– The dinosaur mummy can therefore shed new light on the appearance and general anatomy of dinosaurs. Additionally, the new discovery suggests there may be more skin preserved in the rocks, which could provide additional insight into what hadrosaurs looked like.

70 million years

The dinosaur in question is thought to have died around 77 million years ago – 10 million years before the extinction of the dinosaurs, writes The Independent.
