Canada beat Italy 2-1 in the Davis Cup semi-final on hard court in Malaga. The hero of the match was Félix Auger-Aliassime, who scored two points.
After defeating Germany, Canada faced another European power, Italy, who eliminated the United States in the quarter-finals. The Maple Leaf Country tennis players also emerged victorious in this match, winning 2:1.
However, the meeting started better for Italy. In the first match after three and a quarter hours of a fierce battle, Lorenzo Sonego defeated Denis Shapovalov 7:6(4), 6:7(5), 6:4.
Félix Auger-Aliassime led to a draw. In the clash of the young leaders of the two teams, the 22-year-old Canadian served 12 aces, never had to defend against a break, scored two breaks and won with 20-year-old Lorenzo Musetti 6:3 , 6:4.

Both teams entered the deciding doubles with altered formations. Fabio Fognini and Matteo Berrettini have played for the Italians, instead of the previously announced Simone Bolelli. On the Canadian side, however, Auger Aliassime appeared alongside Vasko Pospisil in place of Shapovalov.
The Canadians were better at castling. Auger-Aliassime and Pospisil made up for the loss of a break in both sets, won 7:6(2), 7:5 and introduced their national team to the final.
This will be the second Davis Cup final in Canadian history. In 2019, they lost 0:2 to Spain. He will face Australia on Sunday.
