Polish tennis players enjoyed another week as part of the ITF World Tennis Tour. The White-Reds competed on different continents. The event in recent days was Paweł Ciaś’s first performance in 2024.
Paweł Ciaś, 29, played his first games this week since his September performance in the challenger in Szczecin. The three-time champion from Poland has decided to take part in the ITF World Tennis Tour event in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt. Our tennis player beat Grigory Shebekin 6:2, 6:2 and Alec Beckley 6:2, 6:4. Amr Elsayed proved to be better than him in the quarter-finals (6:0, 6:1).
In Monastir, Tunisia, the Whites-Reds did not achieve notable results this week. Olaf Pieczkowski, Michał Mikuła and Jasza Szajrych were eliminated in the first round of singles. In doubles, a pair of Pieczkowski and Szajrych won a match, which then lost a meeting with Chinese duo Bohua Dong and Xin Gao.
Maciej Rajski spent the second consecutive week in California. He managed to pass the two-stage qualifier for the hard-court competition in Calabasas. In Thursday’s first round match, the 31-year-old tennis player took on Toby Kodat. The American won 6-1, 6-4. The rest of our gentlemen competed in qualifying in various events without success. Alan Bojarski did not reach the main draw in Sharm el-Sheikh, Marcel Politowicz in Palmanov and Gabriel Matuszewski in Opatija.

Our ladies also decided to perform in exotic locations. In Monastir, Weronika Ewald and Olga Golas were eliminated in the first round of singles. For the first of them, a talented 17-year-old, it was the first professional performance in 2024. In Tunisia, Martyna Zaremba, Justyna Jodłowska and Maja Bajorek had unsuccessful qualifying rounds. The last two of the aforementioned women were the only Polish women to have participated in the doubles tournament, but failed to qualify for the quarter-finals.
In Sharm el-Sheikh, Gina Feistel had to recognize the superiority of Selina Dal in the first round of the singles, with whom she qualified for the doubles. The Polish-German pair won two matches and reached the semi-finals. Alicja Formella and Magdalena Świerczyńska also played on the Egyptian courts, but they did not reach the main draw and in doubles they were eliminated after the first encounter.
On clay in Antalya, Turkey, Ada Piestrzyńska, Zuzanna Frankowska and Xenia Bandurowska did not qualify. Bandurowska and Frankowska then played doubles, in which they won one match each with their partners. In contrast, Agnieszka Olszewska and Natalia Kowalczyk failed to score on the clay courts in Heraklion, Greece, this week.
