One person got out when the roof of the Ålesund shopping center caught fire on Sunday evening.
Police in Møre and Romsdal were still not ready at the scene when TV 2 first called at 00:45 on Monday evening.
– We will soon be ready to broadcast information, a busy operations manager told TV 2 before hanging up.
Witnesses tell TV 2 that there is a violent fire in the AMFI Moa Syd shopping center in Ålesund. Thick smoke rises behind the facade and flames are visible from the street.
Shortly after, the Møre og Romsdal police report that there is a fire in the building on Twitter: The roof structure is on fire, they write.

The firefighters intervened on the spot with a strong mobilization.
– We still don’t have control of the fire, says Ålesund Fire Chief Sindre Egeness.
The fire started in the roof structure and spread somewhat.
– In some places it burned down, he said. – There is currently no danger of spreading to other buildings, and we are trying to contain it.
– There was a person at work inside the shopping center when the fire broke out, project manager Karl Jonas Volen told TV 2.
He states that the person in question escaped unscathed. The police have not yet obtained details on the cause of the fire.
Shortly before two o’clock, police announced on Twitter that the fire had been extinguished. There is extensive smoke and water damage at the site.
AMFI Moa describes itself as one of the biggest malls in Norway on its website. There will be over 200 stores in the building. Based on the footage received by TV 2, there is no fire in the facade itself, but there are burns and thick smoke coming from the roof some distance inside the building.
Amfi Moa consists of three interconnected buildings. It was the southernmost of the buildings that caught fire.
