The AKP politician and psychologist from Vestfold was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease a few weeks ago, he tells Klassekampen.
Sjue belonged to the top leadership of the ML movement for many years and was editor-in-chief of Klassekampen from 1973 to 1977. He then worked as a journalist in the newspaper until the end of the 1990s. He then worked as writer and lecturer in journalism at the University College of Oslo.
He says he wants to contribute to greater transparency on dementia diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease.
– It is also a social problem because it is a disease with great burdens. I have been a public figure for several decades and I have, among other things, participated in the training of numerous cohorts of journalists. Since gaining greater transparency about hidden conditions has been an important part of my project, I can contribute about a disease that has been kept in the dark to far too much. , says Sjue.
– If by telling my story I can help counteract a sense of shame in other people with dementia, then a large part of the goal has been achieved, he says further.
