A car hit several cyclists in the municipality of Nora in Sweden, report several media, including The Express, Echo (“Dagsnytt” Swedish) and Aftonbladet.
– At 10:20 a.m., we received a report that a car traveling at 70 kilometers per hour had hit a group of cyclists, Nina Begallo, operations manager at SOS alarm (the Swedish 112 center), told Aftonbladet.
According to Ekot, around twenty cyclists were affected. According to the local newspaper Nerikes-Allehanda (North America) Police say two are seriously injured.
Several ambulances and a medical helicopter were dispatched to the scene, in addition to the police and firefighters.
– Both were taken by ambulance, but were awake and able to speak, Ola Olsson, operations manager at the Bergslagen police district, told NA.
According to NA, the suspected driver is at the scene. The police inform NA that it is not known what caused the collision.
Nora is located northeast of Örebro in Västmanland, roughly halfway between Stockholm and the Norwegian border. The collision happened on a secondary road near the hamlet of Järle, according to Ekot.
Director of Operations Olsson informs NA that the incident is currently being described as an accident with personal injury.
