Bianca Andreescu was crushed at the 2023 Roland Garros Grand Slam in Paris. Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko left the Canadian no chance and will be Iga Świątek’s rival.
In 2019, Bianca Andreescu became US Open champion. In other Grand Slam events, she hasn’t done well. This week, she reached the third round of Roland Garros for the first time. The Canadian will not play the 1/8 finals. On Saturday, she suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss to Lesia Tsurenko.
The meeting lasted 62 minutes. Tsurenko scored 54 of 84 points played (64%). The Ukrainian had six break points and she used them all. She hit 20 final touches with 12 unforced errors. Andreescu had six straight wins and 22 errors.
Andreescu started this year’s show in Paris by knocking out Victoria Azarenka. She then fired American Emma Navarro. The Canadian recorded her 13th start in a Grand Slam event. So far, she has only reached the fourth round or more twice. She achieved such results twice at the US Open (2019, 2021). The Canadian has three WTA Tour titles to her name, all of which she won in 2019. As well as the triumph in New York, she won tournaments in Indian Wells and Toronto.

Curenko qualified for the 1/8 finals of Roland Garros for the second time. He equaled the 2018 result. The only Grand Slam quarter-final to date was at the 2018 US Open. The Ukrainian has four WTA Tour titles to her name. All won on hard courts. His last triumph dates back to 2018 in Acapulco. In the current season, she recorded the final in Hua Hin.
On Monday, the Ukrainian will be the rival of Iga Świątek. Recently, the Pole didn’t give Curenko a chance in Roma. A year ago, Raszynianka also led the first round of Roland Garros. Both matches ended with the score 6:2, 6:0.
