The WTA 500 tournament in Berlin promises to be rich in emotions. Seven Top 10 ranked tennis players will play there, including Aryna Sabalenka and Jelena Rybakina.

In the previous two seasons, Lyudmila Samsonowa and Ons Jabeur have triumphed in Berlin. Each time Belinda Bencic played in the final. The Swiss won’t be at the start this time, but this year’s edition of the tournament will have quite a strong cast. Only Iga Świątek, Jessica Pegula and Beatriz Haddad Mai are missing from the Top 10 ranking.

Aryna Sabalenka (#1) will face Vera Zvonareva, Wimbledon and 2010 US Open finalist. Jelena Rybakina (#2) will face Polina Kudermetova. Caroline Garcia’s (#3) rival will be Wimbledon 2013 runner-up Sabina Lisicka. Ons Jabeur (#4) will meet Jule Niemeier.

Coco Gauff (n°5) will play with Katerina Siniakova. Maria Sakkari (n°6) was bound by fate to Alize Cornet. In the first round, two Czech tennis stars, Petra Kvitová (n°7) and Karolina Pliskova will face each other. Daria Kasatkina (n°8) will face Petra Martić.

In addition to Sabalenka, Rybakina and Kvitova, two other Grand Slam champions will play. Marketa Vondrousova will face Bianka Andreescu. Wiktoria Azarenka will face Alaksandra Sasnowicz.
