The Swedes took the lead in the vote of the professional jury, but the situation changed abruptly when the votes of the people were counted. Norway was in 17th place after the jury votes with 52 points. 216 people points gave a total of 268 points, and with that was first on the results lists. When the points for Norway were read, Norway moved into provisional second place, behind Sweden – who had yet to receive popular votes.
Finland was in the lead until the very end, when the public jury decided and sent the Swedes to first place. In Liverpool it was clear the crowd had a favorite, throughout the voting the crowd could clearly be heard chanting Cha-cha-cha-chaaaaa.
