The Norwegian Defense Forces submarine on exercise in the Drammensfjorden on Thursday splashed several people.

The KNM Uthaug submarine is on a routine mission, Lieutenant Colonel Vegard Norstad Finberg of the Norwegian Defense Forces told Dagbladet. He explains that the submarine must “show presence”.

– The submarine will visit the port of Oslo tomorrow. he uses the weather on his way to Oslo to show his presence in the Oslofjord. This is routine sailing, and they will meet tomorrow morning at Vippetangen, where the submarine will stay all day.

– Why is it important to show presence?

– It is always important that the Armed Forces show that the whole country is important. There is often a lot of focus on the northern regions when it comes to coast guard and submarine service, but it’s important to show that submarines also sail in southern Norway, says Finberg.

He stresses that it is important for the crew to train. The crew used the sail, which was underwater on the way to Oslo, for training and training, the lieutenant colonel explains.
