Man in hot tub attacked by cougar – Dagsavisen

The American couple were about to take a relaxing evening bath in the jacuzzi, when the man felt something grab his head, writes Sky News.

It turned out to be a cougar.

I made stories

The wife emerged unscathed from the incident, but not the man, who was scratched. When they realized it was a cougar, they made noise, doused it with water, and lit a flashlight on it to make it disappear.

Eventually, the cougar retreated to the side of a hill, where it continued to follow the couple. The man had then received four deep wounds on the top of the head, and one near the right ear.

The two men went inside and cleaned the man’s wounds before contacting the owner, who works with Colorado Parks and Wildlife. A trap has now been set in an attempt to catch the cougar.

The area where the couple live, Nathrop, is a mountainous region attractive for outdoor activities.

Three deaths

Saturday’s attack was the first cougar attack on humans recorded in Colorado since February 2022. Sean Shepherd, a representative for the regional wildlife commission, said the cougar probably hadn’t seen the pair when he had gone to investigate the tub.

– We think it’s likely the cougar saw the man’s head moving low to the ground in the dark, unaware that there were people in the hot tub, says he to Sky News.

– The couple reacted correctly when they made a fuss and turned it on.

At least 27 people have been injured in cougar attacks in Colorado since 1990, three of which have been fatal.
