Vladimir Putin believes that the prosecution of Donald Trump demonstrates a “rotten” political system.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday that the prosecution of former US President Donald Trump was “politically motivated.”
– It’s good for Russia. This shows how rotten the American system is.
The statement was made on Tuesday at an economic conference in Vladivostok, in Russia’s far east, where 68 different countries are represented. Several African countries participate, as well as much of Southeast Asia.
– Permanent enemy
Donald Trump is the first president or former president in United States history to be charged in a criminal case.
Like Trump, Putin believes the indictment constitutes interference in the US presidential election.
But according to Putin, the outcome of the 2024 elections will make little difference to U.S.-Russia relations.
He justifies this by the fact that the United States considers Russia “a permanent enemy”.
More stabbings to the West
The Eastern Economic Forum started on Sunday in Vladivostok as a platform to discuss economic issues in Russia and Asia, especially China.
China, which has the world’s largest military, has struck a balance between Russia and the West, maintaining close relations with Russia despite its invasion of Ukraine.
At the same time, trade turnover between Russia and Asian countries has steadily increased. In China, it is expected to exceed $200 billion this year, according to the official Chinese news agency ECNS.
The Russian president took several jabs at the West during Tuesday’s meeting, in what he called an attempt to “deter” China from Russia, writes Reuters.
– They will fail. Relations between Russia and China have reached an unprecedented level.
