Pickleball offers a fun way to train

If you’re looking for a new activity to complement your favorite sport, pickleball might be the solution. It is not only an engaging social activity, it also provides a good workout, without the requirement for keen athleticism required in most other racquet sports. According to Pickleball Canada, “pickleball is growing in popularity as a sport for all ages!” »

Dr. Sean Graham is a practicing chiropractor and co-director of Satori Integrative Health Center. He is also a former standout receiver for the BC Lions of the CFL and won the Gray Cup in 2000. Yet these days, his sporting passion is reserved for pickleball. I met him recently and noticed his unbridled enthusiasm for one of the fastest growing sports in Canada.

Q: When and how did you discover your passion for pickleball?

It was in the summer of 2020, in the middle of a pandemic, that a friend invited me to play. At first I was hesitant because I always thought pickleball was for older people and those who weren’t very mobile. I finally decided to give it a try and became completely addicted to the sport. I play three to four times a week. I play both recreationally and competitively in sanctioned tournaments throughout British Columbia and even the United States. I have my level two coaching certification with Pickleball Canada and I am a level one referee. I completely immersed myself in the sport of pickleball.
