Last Friday, Samantha Miller lost her life when she was hit by a drunk driver in Folly Beach, in the US state of South Carolina.
Her husband Aric Hutchinson was seriously injured in the same crash.
The couple had been married hours before and were returning from the wedding reception when they were hit from behind by a speeding car, writes CNN.
“Aric has lost the love of his life,” writes his mother, Anette Hutchinson.
Drove in area 40
It wasn’t until five hours after the married couple gave each other their “yes” that Samantha Miller was killed in the crash.
The couple were brought back from the wedding reception in a golf cart. Several family members of the couple were also in the vehicle, which escorted the couple.
Drove badly – got shot
According to tradition, the golf cart towed cans behind it and a “newly married” sign was mounted on the vehicle.
The car was traveling on a stretch of road where the speed limit was 40 kilometers per hour, which is legal in South Carolina, writes CNN.
Accused 25 years old
Then the wedding night turned into a nightmare. Behind them came a car traveling at more than 100 kilometers per hour, according to the police.
In the powerful collision, the golf cart was thrown dozens of meters down the road.
Throwing millions out the car window
Miller was killed. The husband and two members of his family were all seriously injured.
A 25-year-old woman is now charged with negligent homicide and three counts of grievous bodily harm. According to the police, the accused woman drove while intoxicated.
Raised four million
On Sunday, just two days after the accident, Aric Hutchinson’s mother, Anette, held a fundraiser at Gofundme website.
“I retrieved Aric’s wedding ring from a plastic bag at the hospital, five hours after Samantha gave it to him and they said their wedding vows. Aric lost the love of his life “, writes the mother.
