Brandon Nakashima and JJ Wolf advanced to the second round of the ATP Masters 1000 hard-court tournament in Miami without dropping a set. Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz’s first opponent will be Facundo Bagnis.
The start of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Miami proved to be a success for the hosts. In the first men’s match played in the main arena, Jeffrey John Wolf defeated Aleksander Bublik 7:5, 6:3 in 80 minutes to advance to the second round.
Wolf Wednesday was better in rallies, serving efficiently and handling the Kazakh’s power pass well (he got four breaks). In the second round, the 24-year-old Cincinnati native’s rival will be seeded with number six Andrei Rublev.
Brandon Nakashima also made local fans happy. The American served ten aces, not a single one was broken and in an hour and a half he won 7:6(3), 6:3 with Oscar Otte. The next opponent for the 21-year-old from San Diego will be Alejandro Davidovich, Tournament ’20’.

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz, who will defend his title and world No. 1 position at the Miami Open, will face Facundo Bagnis in his inaugural match. The Argentine proved to be better than qualifier Felipe Meligeni on Wednesday after a three-set match.
Seventh-seeded Holger Rune will start with Marton Fucsovics. The Hungarian defeated Pedro Cachin 6-4, 7-6(2). In turn, Jannik Sinner marked “ten” will inaugurate the fight with a match against Laslo Djere, who won against Aleksandar Vukic, a qualifier.
Marc-Andrea Huesler and Guido Pella needed three sets to win on Wednesday. The Swiss beat Albert Ramos and will face 16th-seeded Tommy Paul in the 1/32 final. In turn, the Argentine knocked out Juan Pablo Varillas and in the next phase he will face Denis Shapovalov, scored ’24’.
After the rivals’ breaks, Taro Daniel and Alexei Popyrin advanced to the second round. The Japanese wild card holder has played five games against Arthur Rinderknech and his next opponent will be the No. 13 seed Alexander Zverev. The Australian, on the other hand, beat Mikael Ymer and will face Botik van de Zandschulp, the “26” of the tournament, for the 1/16 finals.
