Polish tennis players enjoyed another week as part of the ITF World Tennis Tour. This time, Weronika Falkowska showed her best side, winning two titles in the Austrian Poertschach.

Due to health reasons, Weronika Falkowska lost last month and was unable to compete on professional courts. This week, the Pole participated in the ITF World Tennis Tour tournament with a prize pool of 25,000. dollars in Poertschach. On Austrian clay, she defeated Anika Jaskova, Diana Marcinkevica, Sofia Sewing and Victoria Mboko without dropping a set, reaching the final.

Falkowska double champion

In Saturday’s title duel, Falkowska faced Alexandra Ignatik (better known by her maiden name Cadantu). The Romanian won the first, but in the next two the Polish didn’t give her a chance. The tennis player marked “four” eventually won the tournament “three” 4:6, 6:1, 6:1.

Falkowska, 22, won the first singles championship in the 2023 season. She previously won five titles in ITF World Tennis Tour events. The Pole will leave Poertschach as a double champion. With Sofia Sewing, she also won the doubles trophy. Our representative and her American partner won three matches and in Friday’s final they beat the Romanian-Latvian duo Elena-Teodora Cadar and Diana Marcinkevica 6:1, 6:2.

Quarter-finals of Hertel and Piestrzyńska. Radwańska’s failure

Another good week is behind Ada Piestrzyńska. This time, the 19-year-old passed the qualifications for the Banja Luka tournament and reached the quarter-finals, where Bosnia’s Suana Tucaković was better. In addition, our tennis player reached the final in doubles, which she joined with Ukrainian Daria Jesypczuk. Olivia Bergler also showed up in Banja Luka but failed to qualify.

Anna Hertel tries to take advantage of the break after her studies in the United States. The Warsaw player played this week in the Slovenian town of Kocevje, where she reached the quarter-finals. Joanna Zawadzka has qualified for the Tunisian tournament in Monastir. She won one match in the main draw. Martyna Zaremba was eliminated in qualifying for this competition.

The other Biało-Czerwone did not achieve notable results. Urszula Radwańska opened the season on grass at British Surbiton, but she has already suffered a loss in the first qualifying round. In the Serbian town of Kursumlijska Banja, our ladies (Zuzanna Bednarz and Hanna Jankowska, who later played unsuccessful doubles with Leticia Matuszewski) and gentlemen (Gabriel Matuszewski and Piotr Czaczkowski) were eliminated in qualifying.

Pawelski detained in Hungary

After two successful weeks in Serbia, Martyn Pawelski moved to the Hungarian town of Nyiregyhaza for clay. Here, however, he only managed to win one duel in the main tournament. In the first round of singles, Karol Filar was eliminated after successful qualifications, while Kacper Szymkowiak, Mikołaj Lis and Piotr Kusiewicz failed to achieve elimination.

Other White-Reds competed on different continents. Borys Zgoła flew to Iran’s Tehran, who were eliminated in the singles qualifying round and reached the semi-finals in doubles. In the Spanish Cordoba, Karol Malirz scored in doubles. Mateusz Kułakowski did not qualify in the Finnish Vaasa and Piotr Galus in the American San Diego.
