Eugenie Bouchard was beaten in the first set by Kamilla Rachimova, but later the match provided great emotions. Defending champion Tatjana Maria has ruled out another opponent from the WTA 250 tournament in Bogotá.
Eugénie Bouchard (WTA 327) has reached the Wimbledon final in the past (2014). He reached fifth place in the rankings. She has played little in recent seasons due to health issues. Defending champion Tatjana Maria (WTA 66) defeated Carolina Alves (WTA 239) 6-2, 6-4. The German needed seven set points to complete the first set. In the second set, the Brazilian from 0:2 equalized at 2:2. Maria again got a two-game advantage (4:2) and this time she kept it.
In an hour and 42 minutes, the German saved four of five break points and used four of 12 break points. She served four aces. Alves committed five double faults. In the quarter-finals, Maria will face the Austrian Sinja Kraus or the Italian Nuria Brancaccio.
Francesca Jones (WTA 817) defeated Carol Zhao (WTA 174) 6-2, 6-1 in 71 minutes. There were 22 double faults in the match, 11 of which were committed by the Canadian. The Briton came back three times, and she used seven of her 10 break chances.
