Calgary, Alberta. (December 1, 2023) – The best skiers in the world are in Tremblant this weekend for the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup. Tremblant hosted its first and only FIS Alpine Ski World Cup race in March 1983, when Canadian Laurie Graham became the first Canadian to win a World Cup downhill on Canadian soil. There are races Saturday and Sunday, both starting at 11 a.m. ET and available on CBC Sports and Radio-Canada.

Led by Valérie Grenier (St. Isidore, ON) skiing on her home hill, the Canadian team will face a field that includes world champion and the person with the most World Cup victories, Mikaela Shiffrin (USA), Federica Brignone. (ITA), Petra Vlhova (SVK) and Lara Gut-Behrami (SUI). The rest of the Canadian team is made up of Britt Richardson (Canmore, AB), Cassidy Gray (Panorama, BC) and Sarah Bennett (Stoneham, QC).

The Tremblant World Cup will strengthen the community and be a key driver of economic and tourism development in the region. As part of this commitment, the first of a three-year commitment, the event should generate $14.3 million annually in economic spinoffs, of which $12 million will remain in Quebec and $4.5 million in salaries for Quebecers.

The Tremblant World Cup will welcome 67 athletes from 20 countries, 150 team staff members, 300 volunteers, 75 broadcast production teams, more than 80 media and thousands of fans to attend races and festival activities during the weekend.
