On Monday, there was a change in the position of the leader of the ATP ranking. Both singles and doubles. The situation of the best Pole, Hubert Hurkacz, deteriorated slightly.

Carlos Alcaraz returned to first place in the ATP rankings. The Spaniard won the ATP 500 competition which took place on the grass courts of the Queen’s Club in London (more here), which was enough for him to overtake Serbian Novak Djokovic. Currently, Alcaraz is only 80 points ahead of ‘Nole’ but will remain the leader for the duration of the 2023 Wimbledon Grand Slam.

Russian Danil Medvedev retained third place, while Norwegian Casper Ruud and Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas are still in the Top 5. Italian Jannik Sinner jumped to eighth place at the expense of American Taylor Fritz. The first “10” is closed by Russian Karen Khachanov, who will not play at Wimbledon 2023 due to injury. The sensational winner from Halle, Kazakhstan, Aleksander Bublik moved up to the 26th highest place of his career (more here).

The title in Halle was defended by Hubert Hurkacz. The 26-year-old from Wrocław was knocked out in the second round this time. Since the points for the triumph in Germany were written off from him last Monday (the ATP calendar moved forward a week), this time “Hubi” has only fallen from 17th to 18th place. Our representative was passed by the Australian Alex de Minaur.

The second of the White-Reds, Kamil Majchrzak, retained the 218th position. Piotrkowianin is still temporarily suspended due to doping suspicions. Daniel Michalski was slightly promoted to 271 on Monday. Kacper Żuk dropped to 277th place. The personal best was improved by Maks Kaśnikowski, who after the performance in Poznań moved up to 309th position.

There has also been a change in the position of the leader of the doubles ranking. First place was quickly taken by American Austin Krajicek, ahead of Dutch Wesley Koolhof and Briton Neal Skupski. Jan Zieliński, who hasn’t been able to cope with the grass so far, held onto seventh place. The second of the White-Reds in the doubles ranking, Karol Drzewiecki, after the triumph at the Enea Poznań Open 2023 in tandem with the Czech Petr Nouza, rose to the highest 110th place in his career (more here).

This week, tennis players will be able to compete for ranking points at ATP 250 events in Eastbourne and Mallorca. There will also be qualifications for the Grand Slam Wimbledon 2023, in which Polish tennis players will not start.
