Sloane Stephens needed 73 minutes to qualify for the next round of Roland Garros 2023 in Paris. The American didn’t give Warwaragrawa a chance. Qualifier Clara Tauson has ruled out 2021 US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez.

Sloane Stephens (WTA 30) has had two impressive matches at Roland Garros this year. At the start, she beat the Czech Karolina Pliskova 6:0, 6:4. On Wednesday, the American defeated Varvara Graczewa (WTA 41) 6:2, 6:1. Stephens reached the final in Paris in 2018. At the 2017 US Open, she won her only Grand Slam title to date.

In 73 minutes, the former No. 3-ranked tennis player scored 26 of 35 points on her first serve. She saved three break points and converted five of her 11 break points. Stephens hit 15 finishing touches with 11 unforced errors. Gracheva was credited with 16 straight wins and 30 errors. The American’s next rival will be Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva.

Clara Tauson (WTA 127) defeated Leylah Fernandez (WTA 49) 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. The tennis players fought for two hours and 27 minutes. The Dane used five of 11 break points. She finished the match with 45 knockouts and 30 unforced errors. The Canadian was tempted by 36 balls won directly on 37 faults.

Fernandez knocked out Magda Linette in the first round. The Canadian won’t defend the points from last year’s quarter-final in Paris. His best Grand Slam result is the final of the US Open 2021. Tauson, 20, reached the third round of a tournament of this rank for the second time, after the Australian Open 2022. Lyon and Luxembourg, the Dane won her first titles on the WTA circuit. Fernandez also has two triumphs, both in Monterrey (2021, 2022).

Irina-Camelia Begu (WTA 27) defeated Sara Errani (WTA 73) 6:3, 6:0, the 2012 Roland Garros runner-up. In the first set, the Italian from 0:3 equalized at 3:3, but lost the next nine games. The Romanian dismissed the application twice and used seven of eight break points. Elina Awanesian (WTA 134) came from 1-3 up in the second set to defeat Leolia Jeanjean (WTA 124) 6-0, 7-5.
