The Basketball World Cup kicked off on August 25 and is in full swing. The second round has just begun, which will select the quarter-finalists of the event.
Only 16 teams remain in the World Championship game. Four new groups have been created, from which two teams will advance to the quarter-finals. The national teams will play two matches against those they have never played before.
The results of the previous phase count. So the teams that recorded three wins at the start of the World Cup are in a better position and have progressed further, with a full set of points under their belts.
Group I looks very interesting, consisting of Serbia, Dominican Republic, Italy and Puerto Rico. The Balkan team, although devoid of Nikola Jokić, is doing very well so far. The clash between the unbeaten Serbs and Italy, who need a victory, is the hit of Friday’s series of games.
The United States should have no problem qualifying for the quarter-finals. The Americans, who have scored 318 points so far in this tournament and have lost just 215, will face Montenegro and then Lithuania on Friday.

The Australians could face a key match in the context of promotion on Friday: they face unbeaten Slovenia, whose big star is Luka Doncic.
Latvia shocked the basketball world by eliminating France, but will they be able to create a new surprise? The European team faces a very difficult match against Spain at the start of the second round.
