The far-right politician, dubbed the tropics’ answer to Donald Trump, has been staying in Florida since losing the presidential election to leftist Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in December.
On Tuesday, Bolsonaro addressed 400 supporters in Orlando, at a meeting organized by the conservative organization in exile Yes Brazil.
– I intend to remain active in Brazilian politics, was his message.
Like Donald Trump, Bolsonaro denies losing the election, and on January 8 his supporters stormed Brazil’s Congress, the presidential palace and the country’s Supreme Court.
On Tuesday, Bolsonaro again expressed doubts about the smooth running of the elections in Brazil.
– Many people are still shaken by what happened during the election. But we will not give up, and with God’s help we will win together, said Bolsonaro, who said he was more popular than ever.
Brazilian authorities are currently investigating Bolsonaro’s role in preparing for the January 8 incident, to see if he in any way encouraged those behind the assault.
On Monday, we learned that he had applied for a six-month extension of his visa in the United States.
