In an interview with CNN, Pelosi did not elaborate on what the future plan would be if Democrats lose their majority in the House of Representatives after Tuesday’s midterm elections.
But when asked whether she will remain in Congress or not, she replies that the attack on her husband Paul has affected her assessments.
– I must say that my decision was influenced by what happened during the last two weeks, says Pelosi.
Political opponents have partly mocked and minimized the seriousness of the attack on his wife Paul. The 82-year-old was attacked with a hammer at the couple’s San Francisco home on Friday a week and a half ago.
He suffered a fractured skull and injuries to an arm, as well as both hands, and will have to go through a longer rehabilitation process.
Nancy Pelosi, as leader of the House of Representatives, is the third most powerful politician in the United States. She was in Washington when the attack happened.
David DePape, 42, was arrested and charged with the attack. He is from Canada and has been in the United States on an expired visa. During his interrogation, he reportedly said he would take Nancy Pelosi hostage and crush her kneecaps if she did not tell “the truth”. He considers her the “leader of the pack of lies told by the Democrats,” according to the indictment.
DePape also allegedly planned attacks on other prominent politicians and their families, both in the state of California and nationally.
