The Polish volleyball team played two matches in Xi’an, China, in the qualifying tournament for next year’s Olympic Games. Nikola Grbic’s players beat Belgium 3-2 and Bulgaria 3-0. In the next match, they will want to take another step towards achieving a hat-trick in this national team season, which would be a gold medal in the Nations League, a victory in the European Championship and a qualification for the Olympic Games in Paris.

The Polish volleyball team’s rival in the third match of the Olympic qualifying rounds will be the Canadian national team. The South American team is also undefeated in this tournament. The Canadians created a surprise in the previous two matches, beating the Netherlands 3-2 and Argentina 3-1 respectively.

It seems that the Whites and Reds are the clear favourites in this competition. Out of the last 15 matches in all possible competitions, they have won as many as 14 with a record of 43:11. The only loss to Canada came in a friendly match in May 2018. Canada then won 3-1. The last five meetings between these teams have meant five victories for the Poles without dropping a single set.

The Poles have also faced Canada at the last two Olympic Games. While in 2021 in Tokyo they won easily 3-0, in 2016 in Rio de Janeiro they put in a lot of effort and won 3-2 after a bad game. It remains to be believed that in China they will repeat the result of the match in the capital of Japan.
