A new member elected to the Curling Canada Board of Governors
Two governors were re-elected and a new governor was elected to the Curling Canada Board of Governors, it was confirmed Saturday at the organization’s annual general meeting.
The governing body of curling in Canada held its virtual AGM on Saturday, bringing together Canada’s 14 member associations and guests to discuss the past season and elect new members to the Board of Governors.
There were three spots available after Edmonton’s Roselle Gonsalves and Ottawa’s Scott Hindle completed their terms, and Calgary’s Amy Nixon joined the board in July after voluntarily returning to the board earlier in the season to help l integration of four new governors.
Gonsalves and Hindle ran for office and won four-year terms.
Additionally, newcomer Jeremy Woo of Winnipeg was elected to a two-year term.
These three join Governors Ray Baker of Dauphin, Manitoba, Jennifer Howard of Courtice, Ontario, Kathy O’Rourke of Cumberland, Prince Edward Island, Darren Oryniak of Winnipeg, Teri Palynchuk of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Calvin Seaman of Calgary and Michael Szajewski. from Kenora, Ontario.
Szajewski was re-elected chairman of the Board of Governors.
“We continue to make significant progress as a sport and as an organization, and I know our board is ready to contribute in any way possible, as we have a shared vision and ambition alongside our member associations to make our sport better and more. welcoming to everyone,” said Szajewski. “It is a privilege to have this opportunity and I look forward to the next season working with my fellow governors.
“We are in good hands for the remainder of the year with Danny Lamoureux as interim CEO,” added Szajewski. “The selection process for a new full-time CEO is well underway and we are excited to see this search process unfold as we know there are excellent candidates.
