Spain and Serbia were in the same group for the Davis Cup of tennis for the second consecutive year. There could be another duel of the stars of this discipline – Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Last year, these players did not participate in the tournament.
In Group C in Valencia, besides Spain and Serbia, the Czech Republic and South Korea will also play.

The 16 teams that will battle for the main trophy were split into four groups on Wednesday. Canada, Italy, Sweden and Chile will play in Group A in Bologna. B in Manchester: Australia, Great Britain, France and Switzerland, and in Group D in Croatia: hosts, Netherlands, USA and Finland. The city where the tennis players of this group will compete will be announced later.
Group stage matches will take place from September 12-17, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the finals in Malaga (November 21-26), where Wednesday’s draw took place. The competition will be held in the knockout system.
Canada won the trophy after beating Australia 2-0 in last year’s final to win the competition for the first time in history.
Russia, who won in 2021, remain excluded from the competition due to sanctions imposed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) after the military invasion of Ukraine.
At the beginning of February, the Poles lost 0:4 against Japan in the World Group I play-offs. In September, they will face Barbados at home in the World Group II match, and the stakes of the two-day competition will be promoted to next year’s play-offs for a place in the top flight.
