Free to send Christmas gifts to Ukraine
– It costs nothing to send parcels by post to Ukraine, as long as the parcel weighs less than 20 kg.
So says Kenneth Tjønndal Pettersen, Press Officer at Posten Norge.
But if the gifts are going to last until Christmas, you should look around.
In April, Posten launched a service to send packages containing emergency aid to Ukraine free of charge.
So far, they have delivered about 130 tons of humanitarian aid packages to the country.
In May, it also became possible to send to private addresses. This too for free.
And lately, it was Christmas presents.
– We have seen that the volume of parcels has increased in recent weeks.
Parcels are transported to Poland where they are handed over to the Ukrainian postal service. This collaboration has so far been painless, Posten informs.
– We see that he created a very good answer. There are several places in Norway where it’s almost like volunteering to send Christmas gifts to send. So for us it’s a pure pleasure to facilitate.
But if you don’t meet the deadline today, it’ll probably be until Christmas anyway.
Most Ukrainians only celebrate Christmas from January 6-7, and follow the traditional Orthodox calendar. In recent years, it has become more common to celebrate Christmas on December 25.
– We send about one truck a week to Ukraine, says Pettersen.
The next one is next Friday.
