We have already written about Harley-Davidson’s electric motorcycleand now they’re taking their Project LiveWire Experience Tour around the world to show off five of them and let the world test and give feedback on the company’s first electric motorcycle.
The project started last year and selected consumers in Asia, Europe, Canada and the United States now have the opportunity to test the bike and give their feedback.
The LiveWire project combines Harley-Davidson’s styling heritage with the latest technology, hoping to deliver an entirely new experience of Harley-Davidson’s signature style, sound and feel. The motorcycle will offer “a unique and engaging riding experience, with rapid acceleration and an unmistakable new sound.”
And it’s not just this new sound that makes this an exciting project for us. You can tell a Harley-Davidson by the sound from a mile away. So what happens when the Harley goes electric?
Expectations are reset
– Project LiveWire has redefined expectations of what a Harley-Davidson motorcycle can be, says Mark-Hans Richer, marketing director at Harley-Davidson, in a press release. – The first phase of the Project LiveWire Experience Tour provided valuable insight into the features and experiences riders expect from a Harley-Davidson electric motorcycle. This year, we’re expanding this experience to a global audience to gain even deeper insights and allow testers to help shape the direction of this amazing technology.
Not to sell
The Project LiveWire motorcycle is not for sale, but was developed specifically to better understand riders’ expectations of an electric Harley-Davidson. Customers are invited to take a test drive and provide feedback on their experience, as well as learn more about the story behind the project. Even those who don’t yet ride a motorcycle will have the opportunity to feel the power of Project LiveWire through a simulator.
In 2014, more than 15,000 customers gave feedback on the LiveWire project, including the 6,800 who were able to test the bike during last year’s Experience Tour in the United States. Long-term plans for the eventual production and sale of the bike are influenced by feedback received by HD during its Project LiveWire Experience Tour.
Unfortunately, Norway is not on the tour schedule, so those interested will have to travel to Britain, France, Italy, Germany or the Netherlands.
