Jakub Majchrzak was born on May 13, 2004 in Łódź. He started his adventure with volleyball quite late, in the first year of high school. He is a pupil of Wifama Łódź, with whom he won the bronze medal at the Polish Junior Championships. After a successful season, he received an invitation to tests at SMS Spała, starting his studies at the sports championship school from the second year.

Under Michał Bąkiewicz, the young center and his teammates won the U19 World Championship title in 2021. The Polish national team also included two current Indykpol AZS players – Kuba Hawryluk and Kamil Szymendera. Majchrzak was also selected to the team of the tournament. Last year, however, the whites and reds won silver at the European U20 Championships – the middle one was once again selected for the dream team.
Jakub Majchrzak, with SMS PZPS Spała, also participated in Tauron 1st League matches. Over two seasons, the 208cm player played 53 games, scoring 368 points – 263 in attack (54% efficiency), 88 in blocking and 17 in the service area.
In the new season, the time has come to debut in PlusLiga. Jakub Majchrzak will join Indykpol AZS Olsztyn.
– I chose Indykpol AZS Olsztyn because I heard a lot of positive opinions about the club. This is where many young players have progressed. This is my goal for next season – said the new center of the team from the capital Warmia and Mazury.
The young competitor is also the winner of the “Eugeniusz Pietrasik Olympic Hopes” prize, awarded at the beginning of 2022. The prize is awarded to young athletes and their training coaches who, in a given year, have achieved significant successes during international competitions of the rank of World Championships, European Championships or World Cups in Olympic disciplines, and which have not yet taken part in the Olympic Games.
“Every year we try to give talented young players a chance. This season the choice fell on Jakub Majchrzak. I think he has similar potential to Mateusz Poręba. I believe that thanks to the work that he will do in Indykpol, AZS Olsztyn, in the future he will be appointed to the Polish senior national team – admits Tomasz Jankowski, Chairman of the Volleyball Board of AZS UWM SA.
Jakub Majchrzak, along with Kuba Hawryluk and Kamil Szymendera, are preparing for the U21 World Championships, which will be played in Bahrain (July 7-16). Poland will play in a group with Bulgaria, Canada and India. A few days later, they will fight for promotion to next year’s European Championships.
