He’s not strong enough! Max Verstappen won in Canada

The Red Bull team claimed its 100th F1 world championship victory on Sunday. It is the fifth team to reach this number, after Ferrari, McLaren, Mercedes and Williams.

– It’s just amazing. I never thought I’d see numbers like this,” Verstappen commented.

The Dutchman won Saturday’s qualifying, rode to Montreal from top position and didn’t give it to anyone a moment. After confirming the good disposition – his own and that of the team – at the start, there was no more excitement in the fight for victory. Even the appearance of the safety car on the track did not leave much hope for the rivals to catch up with the double world champion.

Verstappen earned his 41st career victory and tied the all-time ranking for fifth place with Brazilian Ayrton Senna. Hamilton holds the record with 103 wins.

This season, the Dutchman has won for the sixth time in eight rounds (one – the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola – was canceled due to flooding). In the other two, his Red Bull partner, the Mexican Sergio Perez, was the best.

More fierce was the rivalry between former world champions Alonso and Hamilton. The Spaniard got off to a less good start and almost immediately lost position to the Briton, but later in the race attacked him successfully. At no time, however, did he gain a comfortable advantage.

“I didn’t have a single lap to rest, the fight was tight the whole time,” said Alonso.

Verstappen leads the overall standings with 195 points. Second Perez, who finished sixth in Montreal, has 126 points. The loss against the Mexican was reduced considerably by Alonso, who increased his achievements to 117 points.
