Host favorites Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul qualified without dropping a set for the fourth round of the ATP Masters 1000 tournament played on hard courts in Miami. The talented Holger Rune also achieved some victory.
After entering the top 10 of the world rankings, Taylor Fritz became an American sports star. His performance is being watched closely and he has to deal with the weight of expectations. He faced the pressure on Sunday and beat 24th seed Denis Shapovalov 6-4, 6-4 in the third round of the ATP Masters 1000 in Miami.
Both tennis players base their game on serve and baseline aggression. On Sunday, Fritz was much better at both. The American was an excellent passer, he was more effective, he made fewer mistakes and therefore he could enjoy the victory.
Thus, in the fourth round, there will be a duel of Top 10 players. Fritz, seeded with number nine, will face Holger Rune marked with a “seven”. The 19-year-old Dane in an hour and a half dealt with Diego Schwartzman, the “31” tournament, giving the Argentine six games.
“I took the lead quite quickly and that was important for me. Diego is strong, so I focused on putting pressure on him. I did very well and was calm,” Rune said as quoted by atptour.com.
Tommy Paul also gave local fans reason to be happy on Sunday. Seeded number 16, the American served eight aces, converted four of seven break points and won 6-3, 7-5 against the marked “20” Alejandro Davidovich.
