Hubert Hurkacz won the ATP 250 indoor competition on hard in Marseille. How did the triumph in the French event affect the Pole’s situation in the latest ATP rankings?
On Sunday, Hubert Hurkacz enjoyed his sixth singles championship in the main round. The 26-year-old from Wrocław won the indoor event of the Open 13 Provence beating Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi 6:3, 7:6(4) in the final (more here). It is also the first title of our representative for the 2023 season.
Hurkacz received 250 ATP ranking points for the victory in Marseille. Despite this, he failed to return to the Top 10 and retained his 11th position. Indeed, on Monday, he had already lost 180 points for last year’s semi-final in Dubai. Last season, the tournament in the United Arab Emirates was played a week earlier than now.
The second of the White-Reds, Kamil Majchrzak, fell to 132nd place. Piotrkowianin is still temporarily suspended until the doping case is clarified, so he cannot perform on professional grounds. Kacper Żuk moved up to 257th position and Daniel Michalski to 271st place.

Novak Djokovic remains number one in the ATP rankings. The Serb has started a record 378th week as the leader of the world rankings (more here). The second is the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who could have equaled “Nole” on points, but lost Sunday in the final of the Rio Open against the Briton Cameron Norrie. Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas finished third and Norwegian Casper Ruud fourth. American Taylor Fritz made his Top 5 debut (more here). Doha champion Daniil Medvedev of Russia moved up to seventh place at the expense of Spaniard Rafael Nadal.
There will be three main events in the series this week: Acapulco and Dubai (ATP Rank 500) and Santiago (ATP Rank 250). Two Poles will perform in the United Arab Emirates: Hubert Hurkacz in singles and Jan Zieliński in doubles.
