The Intership de Hareid wellboat shipping company has taken delivery of the first of its two new buildings at Zamakona Yards Bilbao. Inter Atlantic is designed by NSK Ship Design and has a loading capacity of 2200 cubic meters and is bnr. 802 of the court.

Inter Atlantic is designed with a focus on fish handling, fish welfare and biosecurity. The ship has installed a large freshwater production facility. The production of fresh water from sea water is done by reverse osmosis, with a production capacity of 5,000 m3 fresh water within 24 hours.

FRESHWATER TREATMENT
Since 2016, Intership has led the development of freshwater treatment for head lice and AGD (amoebic gill disease) using reverse osmosis. Over the past six years, the company has gained extensive operational experience in the production and treatment of fresh water. The experience is then used to actively develop and improve existing and planned systems. The result is a reverse osmosis system specifically designed for well boats that provides a highly effective, affordable and environmentally friendly method of treating farmed fish for lice and AGD. Inter Atlantic directly enters a permanent contract for a large breeding company in Scotland and then travels to Canada.

THREE NEW BUILDINGS
– Freshwater treatment is probably one of the gentlest treatment methods, and it is with great pleasure that we take delivery of another new building with our state-of-the-art facility for the production and treatment of salmon with fresh water. We have three other wellboats under construction with similar or greater capabilities, explains Ole Peter Brandal, Managing Director of Intership. Intership was established in 2014 and has experienced solid growth since its inception. The company offers a modern fleet with innovative technology for sustainable fish handling, processing and transportation. After taking over the new builds of Zamakona and Sefine, Intership’s total fleet capacity will be approximately 26,200 cubic meters spread over eleven wellships, and with this build program will be one of the major wellboat shipping companies. The ships operate in Norway, Chile, Scotland and the east and west coasts of Canada.
