The defender with Polish roots has spent the last year and a half at Canadian York United. Last season, in the local Premier League, he played 28 games, during which he registered one goal and one assist. He was selected among the best “eleven” of the tournament.
– A month ago, I was on a test in Korona. Everything went well as we have now finalized the details of the contract. I’m glad to be here. I haven’t had the chance to get to know the city yet, but I’m happy to be able to live in Poland – explains the competitor.
Dominick Zator’s parents are Polish. He was born and lived his entire life in Canada.
“For me, this is a huge change. I’m happy. Mom is happy. Dad says “you’re coming back to a country I wanted to leave”, but that’s life. I came here to play football – explains the central defender.
The 28-year-old knows the Polish league. As he says, his first goal is to help the team, and the second is to navigate the wider waters. Playing in Europe could bring him closer to the national team. Canada will host the World Cup in three and a half years.
– I watched Ekstraklasa matches. My father much more. I am here to show myself. It’s a good league. The level seems higher. It’s a good showcase. There are more beautiful stadiums than in Canada. I’m here to help the team. We have half a season to keep us alive.”
Dominick Zator has signed a one and a half year contract.
